Grape researchers estimate that there are over 10,000 different grape varieties. This list of wine names A to Z includes all of the major grapes and wine styles that are made around the world.
In some countries, wines go by the grape name, for example, Chardonnay or Merlot. In other countries, wines go by their geographical growing region or wine style, like Bordeaux, Champagne, or Ice Wine.
Wines with (*) after them indicate names tied to a geographical region or wine style, not the grape itself (or may even be blends of different grapes).

Conclusion
Most wine drinkers are familiar with mainstream, international grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, for example.
But with so many wines made around the world, you could literally spend your life trying to taste them all!
You won’t be able to find wines made from all of these grapes in every market, but you can certainly find many of them in specialty wine shops and online.
Check out the list of red wine names here if you’re curious.
